How important is age as a factor in learning?

I have taught mnemonics, which is a huge benefit when learning, to children of 7 and I am 77 myself. I believe that children young enough to learn ‘one two buckle my shoe’ or picture how to get from their bedroom to the bathroom, could use the techniques, and I have no doubt that I will continue to use them daily and teach them for the foreseeable future.
